Key Canadian Requirements
Canada uses a unique 50×70mm format — larger than the US (2×2") and EU (35×45mm). This is important because using the wrong size is an automatic rejection.
The Guarantor Requirement
Canadian passport photos have a unique requirement: one photo must be signed on the back by a guarantor (someone who has known you for 2+ years and holds a valid Canadian passport). The guarantor writes "I certify this to be a true likeness of [your name]" and signs it.
Glasses
While Canada technically still allows glasses, they strongly recommend removing them. If you keep them on, there must be no glare, no tinted lenses, and your eyes must be clearly visible.
Canadian Visa & PR Photo Requirements
Photos for Canadian visa applications, permanent residence (PR), and citizenship applications all use the same 50×70mm format with white background.
